Published January 29, 2018
The reports and report package in the MDS 3.0 QM Reports category in the CASPER Reporting application will be unavailable beginning 01/29/2018 while new measures are being added to the reports. The reports that will be unavailable are as follows:
MDS 3.0 Facility Characteristics Report
MDS 3.0 Facility Level Quality Measure Report
MDS 3.0 Monthly Comparison Report
MDS 3.0 Resident Level Quality Measure Report
MDS 3.0 QM Package Reports
You will receive a follow-up email when the reports are available for use.
Once available, the following three new measures and associated data will display on the reports:
Percent of Residents Whose Ability to Move Independently Worsened (Long Stay)
Percent of Residents Who Used Antianxiety or Hypnotic Medication (Long Stay)
Percent of Residents Who Made Improvements in Function (Short Stay)
Two of these measures, Ability to Move Independently Worsened-LS and Improvements in Function-SS, are currently reported on the CMS Five Star Quality Measures. Adding them to the CASPER Report will actually be a welcome change since these reports allow providers to identify the individual residents triggering in these areas where as the Five Star Reporting does not.
The logical specifications for these measures was included to the MDS 3.0 Quality Measures User’s Manual https://www.cms.gov/Medicare/Quality-Initiatives-Patient-Assessment-Instruments/NursingHomeQualityInits/Downloads/MDS-30-QM-Users-Manual-V11-Final.pdf issued April 1, 2017. We urge providers to review this information to ensure their facilities performance is accurately reported.
If you have questions concerning this information, CMS has asked providers to please contact the QTSO Help Desk at help@qtso.com or call 1(800)339-9313.
