CMS Issues RAI Manual Revisions…

CMS Issues RAI Manual Revisions…

Published August 23, 2018

We are letting providers know that yesterday CMS finalized the RAI Manual revisions taking effect October 1, 2018.

CMS’s most recent MDS changes (version 1.16.0) will significantly impact how they;

• assess residents

• document

• communicate with one another

• plan for care.

These new requirements effect several sections of the MDS including but not limited to a significant addition to items in Section GG, addition of coding on a Drug Regimen Review in Section N and identification of a resident’s primary medical condition category in Section I.

Staying compliant with these changes will improve the quality of care you deliver, as well as keep your SNF in compliance with the SNF QRP requirements to avoid a reduction in Medicare payments.

Visit the CMS website to see what is ahead or contact us today for additional MDS/QRP preparedness training!
