Urgent Update: New Nursing Home Posting Requirement Effective Dec. 26th
Mandated by a NYS law enacted in Sept. 2024, as of Dec. 26, 2024, nursing homes will be required to post their CMS Five-Star ratings in each of the three domains (health inspections, staffing, and quality measures) in addition to the overall rating currently required to be publicly posted. All Five-Star ratings are required to be displayed both on facility websites and inside the facility itself.
- A facility’s overall Five-Star rating and three domain-specific ratings must be posted on the home page of any website maintained by the nursing home and any webpage relating to the facility (i.e., website of the entity that owns and/or operates the home).
- Nursing homes are also required to conspicuously post the most recent overall and domain-specific Five-Star ratings where it is highly visible to residents and the general public within their facility. Full details of these new requirements can be found in Section 2808-e(2) of the Public Health Law.
This is very short notice for such a requirement, especially with implementation during the holiday season. We hope this newsletter reaches you in time to meet these new posting requirements.
